PayPal will soon offer a mobile credit card swiping device that will supposedly be cheaper in price in comparison to Square’s device. This card reader will charge merchants 2.7 % which is less than what Square’s charges (2.75%). PayPal is on a mission to have in-store payment service terminals at various different small and large companies such as Home Depot. They are attempting to convince 200 U.S. retailers and get them to sign an agreement to accept PayPal in their stores. Will this be the sole competitor with Apple’s Square device? Or will there be other companies that will start their own card readers?
