Indian Village Bans Mobile Phones for Women

A village council in an Indian Village voted to ban the use of mobile phones for girls and unmarried women, giving the reason that mobile phones promoted extramarital affairs and unsanctioned marriages. Even with mobile phones becoming a key device of importance, many traditional societies still have issues with the new technology. This ban only proves that the village still holds traditional male power in the village, and hopefully in time the town will repeal the ban.

With there still being hundreds of traditional old style villages around, until they fully accept technology, the villages will continue to fall behind.
