Amazon Targets Mobile Apps in Mobile Sales Push

Amazon is now targeting independent mobile apps by offering mobile developers the chance to use its new Mobile Associates API.

Amazon’s Mobile Associates API will allow developers to build relevant Amazon product offerings into their applications. When purchases of those products are made within the mobile applications, the app developers will receive a 6% commission from Amazon.

Amazon hopes that this development will boost its profile in mobile commerce, while providing another revenue stream to app developers by encouraging them to develop apps with in-application purchasing sponsored by Amazon in mind during the app development phase.
