A new eye-tracking technology is in development. “Tobii,” a Swedish technology company that develops both the hardware and software for eye-tracking, recently gave the world a peek at their new product “EyeMobile,” a small device which connects to a Windows 8 tablet via USB input. Although Tobii unveiled their eye tracking technology several years ago using a Windows laptop, users still needed their hands to click the mouse. The “EyeMobile” technology allows users to have complete tablet functionality using only their eyes, paving the way for a future where most devices will be embedded with this type of technology. One unit costs roughly $3900, but when they become cheaper in the future, eye-tracking technology will become much more common.
