Just a day after Nike released their highly anticipated “Fuelband” smartwatch, Adidas released a smartwatch of their own. The watch monitors heart rate, utilizes GPS functionality, and also has compatible apps for the Android, IOS, and Windows mobile operating systems. Although the smartwatch does not allow 3rd party apps, it signals a new trend in the mobile field. Smartwatches are becoming increasingly marketed as the “next big idea” in the mobile world. In the near future we can expect smartwatches that fully operate on mobile operating systems, with all of the functionality of mobile phones.
