Facebook introduces new mobile ads to combat app abandonment

Facebook has introduced a new feature to its mobile app that tries to get users engaged in apps they may already have installed. It displays advertisements for apps that users have supposedly tried and then deep-links them into the app from Facebook to use it. Facebook thinks this is a great way to help app companies that suffer from user abandonment of their apps. If the ad displays an app that you do not have and you click the ad it will redirect you to the appropriate app store to download it. The overall the purpose of this new feature it to make users aware of smaller and new apps and to remind them when their older apps have received updates so they can go back and try them again.
