Google Buys “Speed Boosting” Application

Google has bought FlexyCore, creators of the speed boost application for android “droidbooster”. Most speed boosting applications do essentially nothing towards boosting the speed of the device; this company supposedly did something that “heavily optimized ARM binaries from Android’s normal Dalvik code.” The company has not produced anything significant in a couple years and they last marketed their application while Froyo was the main os. Google released a statement saying they acquired the company for 23m because they have “strong expertise in building software to optimize Android device performance.”
The acquisition adds legitimacy to the dubious field of speed boosting applications and raises questions about potential optimizations in android’s future.
