After HP’s Touchpad device was discontinued after only 49 days at retail, hackers who picked up the device in the $99 fire sale quickly sought to install Android on the device but progress has been “slow”. Several alpha versions have been released but they include serious bugs and are not all that stable. Although this development looked promising at first, a member of the CyanogenMod team has said  “don’t expect huge gains… it will help with things like serial console and Bluetooth. Most other areas will be minor.”
