According to market research firm Canalys, Android apps are on average 2.5 times more expensive than iPhone apps. They calculated the cost of buying the top 100 paid apps for each device and found that there was a large difference between the two devices. The price to buy the top 100 apps for Android would cost $374.74. For iPhone, it would cost around $147.

The research also showed that 82 of the top 100 paid apps in the Apple store are priced at $0.99 cents, while only 22 of the top apps in the Android Market are $0.99. The information provided shows how vastly different the two market places are after so many years. Apples store is still very closed and controlled while Android’s is open and less consumer friendly.
