Android GUI PSD (High-Density)

This Photoshop template makes it easy to mockup pixel-accurate Android app designs.

One of the challenges of an ever-changing digital channel, is that we find ourselves spending more and more time designing for various platforms and form factors

This template works best with the latest version of Photoshop. This gives graphic designers a break as far as trying to create the outside elements of the product. It can serve as a powerful template for final product market mock-up. A visual example makes it better for programmers to achieve what the client needs.

iOS 5 GUI PSD (iPhone 4S)

This iOS 5 Photoshop template makes it easy to mockup retina display iPhone apps.

This file now includes countless changes and additions to align to iOS 5. As usual, all compressed in one psd file.

For anyone designing for the Retina display (640×960) it really is quite a different experience. When you work at 100% everything seems absolutely huge but small details get lost when viewing it on the device. You really need to be mindful of how it looks on the phone since your monitor displays things so differently. If you want to learn about our workflow you can check out this post.

The GUI makes it easy to design app and not worry about the technological structure of the ios device itself.

AnyVoice adds more than 40 accents to Siri

Siri might already speak in English, but if you want to really freak people out or just have some fun, why don’t you make your humble virtual iPhone assistant speak in accents? This tweak can make it easier for users to communicate with Siri. You can download it by loading up ModMyi repository, which happens to be one of the default three in Cydia. So of course the device must be jailbroken. With over 40 accents, it is impossible to get bored.

Cydia creator explains why the jailbreak app store often loads very slowly

The biggest reason for the slowdown is the fact that Cydia loads its whole database with packages, which is megabytes of data every time, while the App Store only loads 25 apps at a time and offers a load more button for the rest. Hopefully as the team carryout more programming techniques. The main providers plan to package things better, meanwhile users still enjoy the freedom of jailbreaking.

iOS 5.1 brings new unlock-to-camera action, more cultured Siri

There are two major things that are geared in the update 5.1. The expansion of Siri’s vernacular — more specifically, the addition of Japanese and a new unlock-to-camera action and Japanese support for Siri. In iOS 5.0, users can activate the camera from a locked device by double-tapping the home button and selecting the icon that appears. The new workflow? Wake the phone, then simply slide the lock screen toward the top of the handset — making this feature easier to use and find.

Facebook working on mobile ads after all?

Facebook may be working on delivering advertisements to its mobile users, addressing one of the biggest concerns from the company’s IPO filing. Marketing agency Razorfish said in a Digiday article posted yesterday that it has been working with Facebook on a test program to deliver mobile ads. The firm had been working with Facebook for the past two years, looking at various opportunities in mobile.

The glaring lack of revenue from Facebook’s mobile business was one of the red flags that popped up when it filed an IPO prospectus on Wednesday. Although there are over 420 million monthly users the facebook mobile does not generate any revenue because Facebook doesn’t deliver ads to its mobile Web site or smartphone app. This was a red flag raiser at the IPO filling. Reports noted that advertisers could reach all devices with a single buy, so the ads would run across different devices, operating systems, and mobile browsers.

Depending on the user experience this may create some upset facebook users, but in the other hand this may create opportunities for companies to expand their services through facebook mobile. Future developers to advertise their newly developed apps, such results could contribute to more app buyers from advertisers and more add buyers for facebook.

Google Ups Security with Bouncer for Android Market

It’s pretty clear that smartphones are so much more than basic phones. They’re more powerful than computers we had on our desks 10 years ago, as such, they need computer-like protection from viruses, malware, and other nasty things. Although, all apps must go through an approval process, still some apps have been able to slip past that and make their way in to mobile devices, “no more will this happen google says.”

To ensure this Google has come forward to announce a new service called “Bouncer” just days after announcing of a major malware infection found in some Android Apps. Bouncer will scan developer accounts automatically and look for “potentially malicious software without disrupting the user experience.” It also “looks for behaviors that indicate an application might be misbehaving, and compares it against previously analyzed apps to detect possible red flags.” If it finds some bad stuff, it gives that app (and presumably the developer) the boot out of the door, thereby protecting us Android users from the bad guys.

This addition to the Android would create a safer environment for its customers, more buyers will buy apps without the fear of they information being stolen or hacked. This sill force to developers to create more safer apps with the regards to geting the kicked out of the Android market. Although customers may spend more, developers must invest wisely for better development strategies.

21 Hour Battery Touting Droid Razr Maxx In Stores Today

A dead batter is every smart phone owners worst nightmare, but as of today they wont have a reason to be afraid anymore, at least if they are an android user. All thanks to the release of the Droid Razr Maxx, the phone is basically the same as previous with additions to a thicker surface to contaminate more battery life. Verizon and Motorola are saying that it can get users through almost a full day even if they’ve been talking on the phone that entire time! It’s unreal to see 21 hours of talk time in a phone. Some of us are happy to get less than half, these days so it’s remarkable that they’re been able to do this without compromising the thinness of the device. It’ll be $300 out the store home with it but the original is a fantastic dual-core 4.3 inch phone that has pretty OK software.

This is great for society because it can play a role in energy cuts which may create a better environment, this would be great for the people whole are not able to access chargers as much due to responsibilities and other personal issues. Now Android developers dont have to fear their users running out of power from their apps. They can now build apps without the fear of killing the users battery life. With these capabilities possibilities are endless coming soon…

How Would You Like An iPhone 5 With A Lytro Sensor?

The Lytro point-and shoot box camera, seemed to draw the intest of the former CEO Steve Jobs. Sources say that Jobs was “interested” in the technology, this alone could be enough to speculate that the technology may make its way into future generations of iDevies. Sources from a new book by Fortune Magazine’s Adam Lashinsky titled, Inside Apple. Confirm that Jobs met with Lytro inventor and CEO Ren Ng to discuss about the possibilities of using Lytro technology in an iPhone. Lytro “whole light field” camera, that contains an f/2 aperture and an 8x optical zoom lens, captures all the light rays flowing in its direction instead of fixed focus pixels. This will allow you to take photos whenever you want and you can focus on anything from the scene at a later point in time. Though this may sound impressive the first generation only allowed to to shoot in 1mpx with future there are many possibilites in the future.

This will allow more more detailed photos of mobile users,. this could be a good thing at times when a sharp images capture is needed. This will enable developers to build more powerful apps to capture video and camera footage. Because of this less powerful digital camera sales may decline due to the intense capabilities of mobile technology. Although this combination is not expected soon the future brings the two closer together.
