Indoor cycling becoming increasingly tech-savvy

This week, the Interbike trade show in Las Vegas introduced a lot of new technologies, including some geared toward indoor stationary bikes. Kinetic Technology is now using dongles to make indoor cycling easier. Just put a bike on the mount, and the tablet will display your speed, distance, calories burned, and more. It can also give rider’s a simulated course, to make indoor biking more fun.

Also introduced was Saris’s stationary bike that is connected to a large HDTV screen to give the rider a sense of biking on the open road. Previously filmed routes and two-way communication causing the speed of the route to change based on the rider’s efforts make it more fun to bike anywhere in the world while being inside.

Many other technologies were introduced, including an exercise bike that has spin classes streamed live or on demand on the attached tablet.
