DNR releases application for Deer Hunting Season

The Department of Natural Resources has created a mobile application for deer hunters to be able to share location, pictures, and safety alerts.  The application gives deer hunters a way to communicate for multiple reasons, including safety and social entertainment.  The application will feature news released by the Department of Natural Resources and rules and regulations pertaining to hunting season.

What stuck out to me in this application is the fact that there must have been a need for it to have been created.  It surprised me that deer hunters would use a mobile device while hunting, to give their location.  It just goes to show how technology is being used in scenarios where before would have been odd or unusual.  Mobile applications have “enhanced” the hunting experience and provided a benefit that would not have been possible without the use of mobile devices.  There will be an application coming spring of 2014 that will provide similar features for fishing.
