This is a comparison between the Nexus 7 2, the Kindle Fire HDX 7, and the HDX8.9.  As far as design goes, the tablets are pretty evenly matched, for screen type, there have been reports that the HDX tablets have imperfect color reproduction. The HDX tablets have a faster processor than the nexus, the nexus at 1.5GHz and the HDX’s at 2.2GHz.  However with the HDX tablets you only have access to amazons app store, whereas the nexus 7 2 has access to google play, and the Nexus is running a vanilla version of android, while the Kindle has a laggy custom UI. Amazon’s Appstore reaches 50,000 apps.

After being live for 18 months, Amazon’s android based appstore has passed the 50,000 app milestone.  Amazon’s appstore offers an app marketplace for its kindle fire service which is based around cloud storage.  While 50,000 apps is a relatively low number compared to Apple and Google’s appstores, the new benchmark is a great selling feature for Amazon, who just announced the upcoming release of its new 4G HD Kindle.
