The much buzzed about ride-sharing app Uber has begun to offer a new service, uberX. This new economy service will be offering free rides until the end of the month in the new markets of Indianapolis, St. Paul and Phoenix. Competitor app Lyft also began service in two of those cities and Uber has come out with aggressive marketing campaigns to compete with the other applications like Lyft or Sidecar. This includes 5 free rides in Indianapolis and St. Paul, as well as 3 free rides to users in Phoenix. UberX is also lower cost, offering both commercially licensed drivers and drivers who aren’t commercially licensed to pick up customers. The ride-sharing application market faces some stiff competition with these new deals from Uber.
