Office for iPad coming after touch-enabled Windows version, says Ballmer

Microsoft’s outgoing CEO Steve Ballmer stated recently that Microsoft Office 365 is being worked on for iPad. While it has been available for the iPhone there has not been a compatible version for iPad. Microsoft explained however that the iPad version will come out after they create a touch-optimized version for Windows. It is likely that it will require ownership of a copy of Office 365 which can cause several problems for Microsoft thanks to its competitors. Both Google and Apple have released productivity apps for free that compete with Office. It’s hard to compete with free.
