Uber Continues To Push Expansion Aggressively

Uber: Cross-platform mobile app that allows you to reserve taxi cabs, suv’s, & black cars on demand just recently raised $258 million from investors that include Google Ventures, TPG, and other notable VC’s. These funds have already been put to good use by launching in Indianapolis, St. Paul, and Atlanta ahead of schedule to fight off competitor Lyft. Uber has also filled some high profile executive positions with former Klout, & Google employees. It will be fascinating to watch Uber continue to expand internationally and form partnerships with some of the biggest organizations in the world like the NFL.

Uber Offering Free Rides in New Lyft Markets

The much buzzed about ride-sharing app Uber has begun to offer a new service, uberX. This new economy service will be offering free rides until the end of the month in the new markets of Indianapolis, St. Paul and Phoenix. Competitor app Lyft also began service in two of those cities and Uber has come out with aggressive marketing campaigns to compete with the other applications like Lyft or Sidecar. This includes 5 free rides in Indianapolis and St. Paul, as well as 3 free rides to users in Phoenix. UberX is also lower cost, offering both commercially licensed drivers and drivers who aren’t commercially licensed to pick up customers. The ride-sharing application market faces some stiff competition with these new deals from Uber.
